A new transgender Marvel character will be introduced in a project currently under production. Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie stands as the only queer superhero in any of the Marvel films. She is bisexual, although her sexuality was never explicitly mentioned in 2017′s Thor: Ragnarok. In the upcoming in the upcoming Thor: God of Love and Thunder, it will be more explicit, as she will be on a quest to “find her queen.” The currently in production The Eternals is supposed to introduce an openly male married gay character, and some suspect this is the film that will also introduce the transgender character, while others suspect it will be the Queen in Thor.
Terry Gilliam is a brilliant filmmaker also prone to making some very bad films and saying, recently, some very disappointing things. In an interview in the Independent to promote his latest film, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, he complained that audiences now were too easily offended and that film making was not fun anymore because of it. Then he called the #MeToo movement a witch hunt; white men the real victims; and claimed that women hold all the power. Then there is this gem from the article: “Isn’t it a bigger problem that men are refusing to take responsibility for abusing women, and abusing their power?” and he relies “No. When you have power, you don’t take responsibility for abusing others. You enjoy the power. That’s the way it works in reality.” But that is not the way it should work and it is not okay. Then he complains about women blaming others for their failures, I am guessing like their failure to avoid being raped. It does not sound like women would be particularly safe alone with this guy, although I have never heard accusations against him. Of course, he would just call that a witch hunt. Why are so many brilliant men such awful human beings?
On the very same day that Harvey Weinstein’s New York rape case began, in Los Angeles he was charged with one felony count each of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by use of force and sexual battery by restraint. He is busy and can’t come to the new trial, but as soon as he is convicted in New York he will have a more open schedule and can come visit us here in Los Angeles.
If the 49ers beat the Packers this Sunday, it could lead to something historic. My bet is on the 49ers who have had a great year this year. That is because of the 49ers’ offensive assistant coach Katie Sowers. She has worked for the Niners since 2017, and could become the first female assistant on an NFL coaching staff to work in a Super Bowl. She is also the NFL’s only openly LGBT coach, making this even more historic. Go 49ers!
