My wife and I are fans of Shunga products in general, and we do like warming oils. However, it should be made clear that the word aphrodisiac in the title is used euphemistically. Yes, the warming can be stimulating, and these edible oils are tasty, but they have no magic way of stimulating sexual desire. They really have no functional purpose. They are not a lube, for example, and it is not your best option for massage. They are just for fun.
First off, the bottles are beautiful. They incorporate Shunga art into their label design, something I very much appreciate as I just finished a book that references hundreds of examples of Shunga art. You can learn more about it on our CenterSEE Sexual Heritage Preservation Project page. These heavy glass bottles are, in our testing, fairly leak proof. Earlier versions had little corks, but these have solid twist on caps. The bottle itself comes in an attractive tin. You can still find the older cork bottle versions, but I strongly suggest you purchase the newer screw cap bottles.
As with all products of this type, you really need to seek out a good local adult store. They will have samplers so that you can find the flavors you like the best. It comes in Blazing Cherry, Raspberry Feeling, Exotic Fruit,Vanilla Fetish, Sparkling Strawberry Wine, Intoxicating Chocolate, Coconut Thrills, Creamy Love Latte, Caramel Kisses, and Midnight Sorbet. My favorites are the Blazing Cherry and the Coconut Thrills.
When I tasted them by themselves, I did detect a slight after taste. This was not really that noticeable to me when I licked them off of skin or other body parts, and yes, they can be used on genitals. The sweetness comes sodium saccharin. In tests, it tended to suppress the growth of yeasts, unlike sugar, which is food for yeasts, and why sugar should never go into the vagina.
You won’t notice the warming sensation if you just lick it off. Gently blow on it a little and it will definitely provide a mild sensation of warmth (but nowhere near a burning sensation).
It can be a little sticky, so make sure that you diligently lick it all off. Trust me, that is a task you won’t mind. I remember it being a lot stickier, but this formulation is just a tiny bit sticky, and only when it dries.
Because it has no oil, it is safe to use with latex condoms. Even so, this is not intended to be used as a lube.
Some people have reported a bitter taste. That is due to improper storage, the same way a soda sweetened with saccharine gets bitter if it gets to hot.
Calling this an aphrodisiac oil is a little unfortunate, because it puts the focus on sex and arousal. While that is part of the mix, the real purpose of product like this is to have fun with it. Flavoring up someone’s nether regions and licking them off is enjoyable for both partners.
