I want to like this male masturbator. It is certainly thinking out of the box, literally. The company rep I met seemed perfectly nice. However, the company managed to blow their launch by using social media to send out a series of what they thought were funny messages, but wound up offending a lot of people, especially women. The tints of racism did not help. It was actually disastrous for them, with some reviewer even refusing to write about them, and some others who maintained archives of the postings, which is how I saw them. These were a really bad move on their part.

It has been awhile since that fiasco, and maybe things have settled down some. They did change their media strategy after all the controversy. But then there is the name, Fifi. I wondered what was behind the name, and thanks to a little research I found out, and it sort of bothered me even though it makes perfect sense. The Urban Dictionary explains that a Fifi is the name of an improvised masturbation tool used by prison inmates made from a glove and a rolled up towel. You can see the roots of this in this roll up masturbation sleeve, but still, I just don’t want to associate a sex toy with prison.

This is certainly better than the crude prison version. It rolls out flat and has a lining that is washable and an interior made from polyethylene foam padding that does retain some heat, so it will warm up a little as you use it .It closes with velcro, so you can roll it to the tightness you prefer. Before you roll it up, you lay on an insert which is essentially a female condom. When you are done, you toss the insert, no clean-up required.

It comes in Mack Black, Fire Red, Rugged Gray, Big Blue, and Commando Camouflage. There is also a Furfi with a faux fur exterior. The Dominator is made from pleather, with a textured interior, a feature we did not test. Actually, I think textured inserts are an interesting idea, because you could swap them out, unlike with other male masturbators. They hint at this on their blog with the suggestion that you try using a sheet of bubble wrap rolled up in the Fifi to create a new texture. This is certainly a concept worth further exploration.

Best of all, it is cheap, a serious consideration after looking at a shelf full of $85 male masturbators. You can find Fifi for around $20. That being said, it is not a one time cost. You get five of the inserts. If you want to use it more often than that, you’ll need to buy more. You can use female condoms, or you can buy more from them. They run around 80 cents a piece in quantities of ten, and cheaper if you order larger quantities. That is a little cheaper than what female condoms cost.

It is cheaper than a Tenga Egg per use, and you’d have to use it over 80 times to equal the cost of a Fleshlight. Even so, I am not saying this is equal to a Fleshlight. The only way you’ll get a Fleshlight from a Fleshlight devotee is by prying it from their cold dead hands. So, consider this an inexpensive way to try a masturbation sleeve. It might help you decide if you want to make a larger investment later.

No one wants to put their penis into something cold. They now offer a $20 Fifi warmer. We did not try this, but you can also throw it into a dryer for a couple of minutes on gentle to warm it up. We did try putting a self-heating gel hand warmer inside. These stiffen up as they heat, so make sure you roll it up in the Fifi right after activating it.

Another thing we tried was putting a mini bullet vibrator (learn more about these in our Back to Basics: Bullets and Magnums article) into the inner lining. With the proper placement, this worked reasonably well.
