Sure, meeting adult stars is fun, but our favorite part is the toys. Who doesn’t love toys? There was plenty that was new, and we look forward to playing with many of these items in the coming year.

We enjoyed meeting the folks from Velvet Cock (a rooster head replaces the second word in their logo, and they are sometimes more discreetly listed as Velvet Co), who introduced their brand new Velvet Thruster. It is a soft velvet-like texture silicone toy that achieves something attempted many times with sex toys- thrusting. Mechanically, this is a bit of a tricky thing to pull off, at least reliably and with durability. We have not tested these yet, but they do appear to fit the bill. They are water resistant, have a bendable shaft, and a rechargable battery. They currently have four models to choose from. With over 20 years in aerospace design and manufacturing, while they may be new to the sex toy business, they have the engineering chops to pull something like this off. In terms of understanding what people want in a sex toy, this husband and wife team have many years of experience in the Lifestyle, which provides a much better than average understanding of what people like sexually. These are the types of people we need more of in the sex toy industry. When they went to the XBiz Awards, they did not even know they were nominated, and were completely surprised when they won.

The Velvet Thruster

 

Come-X, the vibrator from EighteenPlus, is billed as not just an ordinary vibrator, but the Ferrari of vibrators. It was unclear if it could also be driven too fast around tight curves, but it clearly is powerful. It is a rechargable with three motors- one for g-spot stimulation, one for overall vibration, and one for clitoral stimulation. This is a Smart device, in that it can be controlled with your iOS or Android phone or using any browser. It can also be fed vibration profiles, either the included ones or those you make yourself. This European company is also heavily engineering focused, and it is nice to see so much creativity blossoming in the world of sex toys.

I think my favorite booth at the show was the one for Rock Candy Sex Toys. It was so bright and colorful that it was a natural pick for our title picture. There have been times when I have had so many sex toys to play with I felt like a kid in a candy store, and here they make that experience more literal with their candy shop themed toys. These toys scream fun (they also scream orgasm, and fun and orgasm go together like the perfect companions they are.) They have vibrating rings you can wear on your finger, gummy vibes (not edible), gummy balls that are round vibrators for your fingertips worn the same way you wore pitted olives at Thanksgiving as a kid, candy sticks and lollipop shaped vibrators, swirls, and a whole bunch more. Very nice people behind a very sweet concept.

I have seen a lot of cock rings, but this is the first one that could see me back. The Cock Camera is a silicone cock ring with a micro camera built-in. It can record 100 minutes at 1080P 15fps, or 30 fps at 720p. It records to an internal MicroSd card. It even has night vision. You don’t have to strap this to your own cock or even have a cock to use it. I think attaching it to a dildo could be quite a bit fun for any gender.

You may have noticed a trend towards high tech toys, a trend which continues with Oivita’s OVibe, which is on Indiegogo. They call it the first artificially intelligent vibrator, but that does not mean that it will become self-aware and take over your genitals. It warms up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, swells in size up to 37%, is water and dust resistant, has wireless charging, five hour battery life, and is iWatch and smartphone compatible with shareable vibration patterns. I am not sure that I fully understand all of the technology in this vibrator from the short viewing at the show, but it seems to have a whole lot going on.

Lovehoney is a British company and we have long been fans of their products. They now have pretty wide distribution in the United Sates so finding their toys should not be very difficult. One of their latest products is the third in their series of Fifty Shades of Grey themed toys. These are to go with the the excruciatingly bad but very popular pseudo-BDSM themed movies based on the books. This latest collection tie into the new movie, Fifty Shades Freed. The new collection is pretty true to the movie in that it has very little to do with BDSM. There are some very nice vibrators, and you don’t have to be Christian Grey to afford them.

We have written about FemmeFunn before, and we are happy to report that they are maintaining the funn. They are based practically down the street from us (well, almost walking distance anyway- although I like the Steven Wright quote that anywhere is walking distance with enough time.)
