Bulking Up On Condoms

When you have big sex parties, you go through a lot of condoms. We try to buy them in bulk to get the cheapest price. We tried the Now Spice of Life fishbowl with 144 condoms and the Durex Fishbowl with 144 condoms to try out and see what we thought. First we’ll look at the Now condoms.

Here are the basics: Each condom goes through rigorous testing to ensure safety and pleasure. They are made from premium quality latex. They are extra lubricated with a reservoir tip. They meet USA and international standards for strength to help ensure reliability. So, basically they are like most condoms.

The big advantage for us was cost. The fishbowl we got had 144 condoms. I just found it on Amazon for 17 cents per condom, which is a great price. There are a lot of premium and much more expensive condoms out there, but we were looking for the basics. Unfortunately, right after we got ours, Now could no longer get fishbowls and they were very hard to find. They are now available again, but in a box. You used to be able to find them everywhere from Kmart to Target. You can find them again, but it takes more effort.

There are several types of condoms included. Speed Bumps are not actually bumps, but ribbed. Roller Coaster has dots and ribs. You can barely feel them with your finger, so you know that she won’t feel them at all internally. That is the problem with these types off condom features- they don’t actually do much. In our discussions with people, the two major issues for them in choosing a condom is how well it fits and how thin it is and consequently how much sensation it transmits. Probably better for most are the Super Fine, which are a little thinner. These would be my first choice.

Finally, Carnival comes in red, green, yellow and blue. They are also flavored, which is not a bad idea if you prefer to give head with your partner wearing a condom. The strawberry was fine, the banana was fine, although both had a slight aftertaste. They certainly tasted better than plain condoms. I liked the tingly sensation of the mint, but that might not be comfortable internally if you are very sensitive to that sort of thing. If not, the tingle is a plus. The blue condoms were maybe blueberry. I could not tell for sure. The real problem is that you can not tell what flavor and color you will get without opening them.

With all of these the lube becomes a little tacky before very long, so you will need additional lube, which you should always have on hand when using condoms. We were able to test these at parties over several months. We had no reports of breakage or experienced any ourselves. Overall, these were perfectly adequate budget condoms.

Durex also makes a 144 set, and it does come in an actual fishbowl, which I prefer. I found it on Amazon for 24 cents per condom, which is a little more expensive. These are slightly higher quality condoms, and you get more variety.

Lets go through them. Durex Invisible condoms are the thinnest condoms Durex makes. Thin is good, and they are just as reliable. They are fitted, which means that for larger men they can be a little tight, but for most this should provide more sensation.

Extra Sensitive is an ultra thin condom with extra lubricant. That means they will not dry out as quickly.

Intense Sensation has large raised dots that can actually be felt, although not everyone will enjoy them. Some men can feel the dots and find them uncomfortable. It really is something you have to try to see if you like it.

XXL are ultra thin condoms that are longer and wider. Sure, you’d rather be carrying around XXL condoms, but they will not fit everyone properly. If you have problems with condoms being just too darn tight, then this may be something to try.

The Tropical are very similar to Now’s Carnival. The flavors are orange, banana, apple and strawberry, with corresponding colors. Still better than condom flavor. Some will like, some will not.

Finally, there is Real Feel, introduced in the U.S. in the summer of 2018. They are made of polyisoprene, and work for those with a latex allergy. Polyisoprene is essentially latex without the proteins which cause an allergic reaction. Unlike some non-latex condoms, you can not use these with an oil-based lube, but we do not recommend oil-based lubes for penetration anyway. Some really love this material, and some really don’t.

While the contents are subject to change as the Durex line changes, and it is more expensive than the Now condoms, we prefer the Durex collection due to its variety and emphasis on very thin condoms. Both have smaller sampler collections, and there are sampler collections from other companies, but these two are the best value we have found.

Even if you don’t have big parties like we do, we suggest seeking out variety or sample packs to help you find what you like. We have learned that personal preference varies widely.
