There are quite a few awards shows in the adult industry, and always a flurry of them towards the end of the year. The big industry show, the AVN Awards, comes up this January as part of the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas. Here is a roundup of some of the other awards presented in the last quarter of 2004, with an emphasis on American productions and titles available in the U.S.

The Listenerís Choice Awards

This will be the most extensively covered, as this was the only one I personally attended. It was basically a love fest at the 2004 Listenerís Choice Awards, held primarily to honor the many adult stars who make time in their schedules to work as PJís (Porn Jockeys) on It really is an amazing accomplishment that KSEX has managed to line up so many adult names to do weekly shows, a level of commitment that some cynics in the adult world might have thought beyond them. These talented PJís have proven that they can not only show up on time, but put on some excellent shows week in and week out, a testament to the often unsung talent in the adult industry.

Awards Show Hostess Layla Jade

This is the third annual awards show, with the awards voted on by KSEX listenerís. They choose the finalists, then vote on the winner. It was held this year at the Paladinos Club in Tarzana with some 300 in attendance. While the show was open to the public, most of the audience seemed to consist of recognizable names in the adult industry, with an over-abundance (if such a thing were possible) of porn stars. There were adult stars such as Jessie Jane, Monica Mayhem, Lexi Lamoure, Nikita Kash and Chloe, along with most of the KSEX PJs. It was a great opportunity for a photo safari in the wilds of Tarzana for those who enjoy snapping away at some of the most beautiful women in Porn Valley. Better still, they also seem to have a propensity to pull their tops down when cameras are around.

Others were there for the food, which consisted of tri-tip and chicken barbecued out in front of the club as we arrived. It was help yourself buffet style, rubbing elbows in line with the likes of Cytherea, who was wearing a dress that was cut so low in the back that it covered almost nothing of her behind. Standing in line behind her made you forget you were having to wait in line.

After a meal and pleasant company, the show began with Layla Jade as hostess, keeping us amused with her infamously dirty mouth and lusty libido while keeping the show moving at a much appreciated brisk pace. While awards shows can seem to last forever, the acceptance speeches here were incredibly short with no one thanking their parents for their success.

Some 250,000 home viewers also had the opportunity to watch the show as it streamed free across the internet. They and we got to see a lot of adult stars both giving and receiving.

Up first was Chloe, who presented the award for favorite porn star not a KSEX host. It went to Jenna Jameson, who was unable to be there to accept.

Kylie Ireland presented the award for favorite amateur porn star to Austyn Moore of She bills herself as an angel with the devilís desire, and we saw a little of both sides of her that evening.

Alexis Amore presented the award for best KSEX Radio guest to Jessica Drake. She was unable to be there, so Stormy accepted on her behalf.

Layla presented the award for hottest porn jockey naked, which went to Carmen Luvana.

Rayveness gave Layla a surprise lip lock after being introduced to present the most sick and twisted porn jockey award. It went to Daisy, and I donít know that anytime in awards history that any acceptance speech has included a reference acknowledging that the winner saw nothing wrong in putting peanut butter on their pussy and letting their dog lick it off.

Porn industry chronicler Rachel Worth of was next up to present the award for best insight into the adult business. That went to openly gay PJ Jason Sechrest, who had to deal with Layla trying to get behind the podium to suck his cock, acknowledging that she always wants what she canít have.

Lorrainiac was up to preset the award for best hummer on film. That went to Alan Evans, who offered to reciprocate to all of those in the audience who voted for her.

Don Benn of presented the best sexual performance award to Cytherea.

Wankus then came up to award to all the KSEX technicians. He was upstaged just a little by Rebecca Love trying to get under Layla Jadeís dress.

After a break that included some great dance music by Slapbak (with a little keyboard sitting in by Wankus who showed he has a myriad of talents), and porn stars turning a heel on the dance floor, it was back to the awards. Ariana presented the best variety in on-air content award to Lorrainiac.

Katie Morgan gave the best radio voice award to the surprised Kylie Ireland. She has family members who work in radio who have told her she does not have a voice for radio.

Brian (Plus One), who is hooked up with Cytheria, gave the award for funniest PJ to Quasarman.

Jason Sechrest presented the sexiest KSEX babe award, an award he is banned from winning himself since they let him compete before and he won it. It went to Stormy Daniels.  Stormy had no chance to sit down, as she was back up to present the best episode of the year award to Gaugeís Trailer Hitch Barbecue.

Daisy gave the best KSEX radio show award to the Wankus with Katie Morgan Show.

Two special awards were given. The first was chosen by Adam and Eve, and went to Don Hollywood and Brooke Hunter for their Tits and Asshole show. Fortunatly, we got to see the tits part of the show as Brooke flashed the crowd. Chris Rock then came up to present the Mike Rick Memorial Award, named for his brother Mike, a KSEX founder who died tragically young in a hiking accident. The award is given to those who contribute the most to helping make KSEX a success. This year it was given to both Rebecca Love and technician Flex.

Finally, KSEX listener Craig came up to award the best PJ, which went to Wankus, resplendent in striped Zoot Suit.

The evening finished off with more great music by the Dazz Band. My favorite moment, though, was when the absolutely luscious Mika Tan got down on her knees in front of me and reached between my legs. Okay, sure, her purse was under my chair, but it is a much better story if you leave that part out.

All in all, it was a smoothly run entertaining evening that all those involved with could be proud of, celebrating the unique phenomenon that is KSEX Radio.

Windy Clitty Awards

This awards show is the only one in this roundup that does not focus on adult videos, but instead turns its eye toward the swing community. Swinging has become a growing adult industry of its own. The Chicago Adventure is an annual convention of seminars and workshops for swingers and the sexually adventurous, and this year marked their sixth annual awards ceremony honoring those that have made contributions to the local Chicago scene and on a national basis in the world of swinging.

Their dubious achievement Booby Award was given to Fox News in 2002 for their in-depth and undercover expose of all the Chicago clubs in an effort to boost their ratings during sweeps month.  Last year's Booby Award was given to Harry Gantz, producer of Sex With Strangers, which was supposed to be about swingers but turned out to be about really dysfunctional people who were way out of the mainstream of swinging. This year's winner went to the Chicago Tribune for its expose of Illinois politician Jack Ryan, who dropped out of his Senate election bid after his divorce proceedings including allegations of attending swing clubs with his wife were revealed. Since the Chicago Tribune went after Ryan's divorce proceedings, the whole thing smacked of a hit piece.   Jeri Ryan, of Star Trek fame, claimed that she was forced to go to swing clubs against her will. Ryan's eventual replacement for the Senate run, ironically, turned out to be one of the most sex negative candidates in the country- Alan Keyes, who could easily win a dubious sanity award. They would have been better off with the swinger.

The winner for Best Media Production was Paul Interlandi's Lifestyles Convention series, from Lifestyle Videos and Freedom Distributing. This had to be particularly satisfying since not only were they up against the popular VH1 special on swinging, but this was a complete revamping of the videos that Lifestyles has put out covering their conventions. The Lifestyles conventions are the largest swinger's conventions in the country. The increase in quality and better distribution has really paid off. There are currently three volumes in the R-rated, non-explicit series, each devoted to a different Lifestyles convention: Lifestyles Vegas, Lifestyles Reno, and Lifestyles Miami. Two more editions will be ready in time for the Adult Entertainment Expo in January.

Winning for a third year in a row for best resort was Hedonism III. This super-inclusive resort in Jamaica caters to swingers as well as nudists and adventurous adults. got the nod for best site for swingers to meet other swingers. Owners Davin and Ronna also won for best couple.

A Lifetime Achievement award was given to Bob Lindsay of Scoreboard Magazine. Scoreboard is what is known as a contact publication, featuring ads from swingers looking to meet other swingers, along with articles of interest to swingers. The winner for Best Lifestyle Publication though, was Friendship Express Magazine, another well-known contact publication.
Clubs and events for swingers were also awarded. The Rocky Mountain Connection Social Club in Colorado won for the Best Off Premise Club. An off premise club is one where the sex takes place elsewhere and not at the actual club events, making it a greart place for newbies and to meet people. AN on premise club is one where sex takes place at the event facilities, and winning the ward for Best On Premise Club was Couples Choice in Chicago. The very popular Nawlins in November convention won for Best Lifestyle Event for 2004.

Ian Seidler of Pussy Shaver fame won for Best Lifestyle Vendor. A regular at adult conventions, he gives live demonstrations of the effectiveness of his product at trimming and removing unwanted pubic hair.

Nominees for the Windy Clitty awards are chosen by those on the extensive Chicago Adventure mailing list. The award itself is molded from an actual vagina.

The Chicago Adventure is an annual event run by 20 year Lifestyle veterans Ron and Sue Gould. Besides seminars, it featured themed party rooms on the party floor, a naked pool party, dances, body art, Tarot card readers, a hypnotist, game show, silent auction, and adult product vendors.

Barcelona International Erotic Film Festival Awards

The 12th annual International Erotic Film Festival in Barcelona last week gave out their prestigious Ninfa awards []. While the show focuses on Spanish films, they also have international categories, and two Americans walked away with awards.

Ron Jeremy won as best actor for his appearance in the Magic Sex Genie from Madness Pictures. Ron plays a sex genie who provides sexual fantasies to those who summon him from his bottle. Alexis Malone has sex with a dead rocker in heaven, Cherry Rain makes love with a fairy nymph, Rachel Rotten does it with a punk, Taylor Rain becomes Cleopatra and does two male Egyptian slaves, and then in a twist that somewhat defies credibility, Angel Long's fantasy is to do it with Ron. The nod went to Ron for the comedic way he handled the role. This was the first feature for gonzo director Dcypher, and he wisely let Ron do his comedic thing.

New Sensations/Digital Sin contract director Axel Braun, famed for his ability to make women squirt, took the award for best director for his dark and edgy film, Compulsion. Compulsion won two awards from the X-Rated Critics Organization, two awards at the AVN Awards, and six awards from Adam Film World. Continuing the trend, it also picked up a Ninfa as best picture.

Picking up the Ninfa for best 100% sex film was Rocco Meats Suzy from Evil Angel. It takes place in Spain, with porn legend Rocco Siffredi and friends picking up hitchhikers for blowjobs, taking over a pleasure boat, and having sex in a large treehouse. Rocco also won the Special Jury Award.

Private's The Millionaire, one of the most expensive porn films ever made, won for best DVD. The film was shot on location around the world and features Claudia Ferrari and Lenny Powers as a couple on the trail of a hidden stash of Nazi gold. Its very high production values include a lot of historical costuming and actual World War II fighting machines.

Long-time Private director and now Hustler Video's man in Europe, Pierre Woodman, picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award. He is best known for his long running Private Castings series where you get a behind the scenes look at the casting of porn films. You see the whole interview, including him getting them to undress and pose, and in some cases have sex, and then you get to see excerpts from the video they eventually wind up in.

They also have a category for Best Transexual Movie, which Evil Angel's Nacho Vidal walked away with for his She-Male Domination Nation. It features Belladonna thoroughly enjoying herself with these dominating chicks with dicks. She gets double analed by a guy and a girl, something you just don't see that often.

Czech beauty Silvia Saint, who should be familiar to Americans for her appearances in Penthouse and with Wicked Pictures, Private, Pleasure Productions, Jill Kelly, and others, won for Best Actress voted for by the fans.

Venus Awards

Hot on the heels of the Barcelona, Spain adult film industry awards came the Venus Awards in Berlin, Germany. They took place October 21st during Venus 2004, an adult industry trade show. Last year the show had over 300 exhibitors from 20 countries and over 25,000 attendees.

As has been the case at other award shows, Private Media Group's big budget Millionaire was a contender in several categories, for a total of 16 nominations. Millionaire star Claudia Ferrari is up for Best European Actress, and Millionaire's Francesco Malcom, Philippe Dean, George Uhl, and Max Cortes are all up for Best European Actor. Director Allesandro del Mar is up for best European director, and Millionaire was also nominated for Best European Movie and Best German Movie.

Digital Playgroundís Jesse Jane won in the Best Actress Ė USA category, and DP director Robby D was named Best Director Ė USA. Elegant Angelís film Compulsion, directed by Axel Braun, won in the Best Movie Ė USA, category. Skeeter Kerkove won the German Best newcomer Line award. Mercenary Pictures owner Lexington Steele won the international directorial honor of Successful Video Series ó Europe.

The four day event included entertainment, with U.S. performers Jesse Jane and Teagan Presley from Digital Playground, and Kelly Erikson from Metro. They also had the Miss Venus contest featuring 50 girls from all over Germany.

Delta Di Venere International Erotic Fair Awards Show

This new awards show was held in Milan and focused primarily on Italian productions. There were a few U.S. winners, though. Digital Playgroundís exclusive performer Jesse Jane was named Best Actress. New Sensationsí contract director Axel Braun was also named Best Foreign Director. Braun, who did very well at the International awards shows this year, is an American citizen, but he was born in Milan.
