It almost did not happen. It was a bash to celebrate the huge success of LFP's Brady Bunch porn parody, Not the Brady's XXX. It also paid tribute to Justine Kane's Spunk'd The movie. It was to be one of the best parties of the year, with hundreds of porn stars, starlets, wannabes, directors, and sex educator journalists. But the forces of prudery tried to stop it, going so far as to take the producers of the event, All Media Play and Danny B Productions, to court.

The event was held at the Knitting Factory, a perfect venue for these types of events. Plenty of parking, lots of different rooms inside, a full stage, a great balcony. The Knitting Factory leases the property, and it was the owners of the property who decided they did not want an adult industry event there. This after having had countless adult events there in the past, including an erotic film festival and previous porn parties almost exactly like this one.

"To me this is a huge case of discrimination against our industry with no basis," party producer Jeff Mullen told adult industry trade magazine XBIZ. "They just don't want us dirty, filthy people in their club and their property, and they're going to put an injunction on our party.

The landlords appeared before the judge requesting an injunction right before the party. If they had succeeded, it would have meant canceling the party as it would have been too late to relocate it. The judge made swift work of the request by saying no. The party went on.

And a great party it was. We spent most of the evening in the media room. This was the area set up for the press where they had an indoor red carpet, and to take pictures. I hate the outdoor red carpets. This time of year it can get chilly, not cold by anywhere else's standards, but chilly for Southern California. ANd you usually have to stand out there for hours, as porn star time is set to least an hour or two later than our clocks are set. The other advantage of inside red carpets- a lot more flashing takes place. We like the flashing.

The media room was a great opportunity to shoot a lot of adult stars, and as the evening wore on, things got friskier. Sometimes at these events the music is so loud it is impossible to talk to anyone, but the music here was at levels you could still talk to people.
