This year seemed like there was a lot more entertainment going on than in previous years. Sure, you could stand in line and get a porn star’s autograph, or pick up porn swag and promo DVDs, but there was also stuff to stand around and watch.

There was one bit of entertainment I did not watch, though. Sure, it was just Matt Zane hanging around for 6 hours, but this involved his hanging from just four hooks piercing his back to break magician Criss Angel’s record of five hours and forty minutes hanging from eight hooks. He held up his latest DVD, Punk’d Ur Ass 3, while being suspended in the Pleasure Productions booth. Most directors are looking for a hook to promote their titles, but this is taking it a little far.

There were other shows in that vein that I found more interesting. Two booths featured bondage demonstrations. Dungeon Corp offered a lot of variety, with everything from traditional rope suspension to having women tied and suspended with saran wrap. They also showed off their flogging skills.

There was more traditional rope tying and suspension at the Matrock booth, primarily for their Close-up bondage line. There were no presentations for their main line, which focuses on cat fighting.

For the romantics in the crowd, they could attend a ceremony in which adult star Trina Michaels renewed her vows to her husband, Jesse Wallace. The ceremony was officiated by SexZ Pictures director Eli Cross.

You could watch the blowjobs that led to explosions- a sound you could hear across a large area of the convention floor. The blowjobs were on balloons, really big balloons, and the explosions were caused by women blowing them up until they burst. This was at the MellyLoon.com booth, a company that specializes in balloon fetishes.

If you enjoy games, you would have enjoyed the carnival atmosphere over at the Bang Bros booth, shared with the Reality Kings. It was actually a carnival, where you could play games such as dildo ring toss, bean bag toss into porn star cutouts, roulette, and 21. You could win piles of Bang Bros Bucks, which could be redeemed for things such as DVDs.

Pink Visual had a large stage ten feet above the ground, sometimes with over 20 girls on it at one time. This stage featured the girls playing a variety of games, including Twister, Porn Charades, Red light / Green light, and Truth or Dare.

Over at the Arrow Productions booth, they had women dressed in costuming celebrating classic films that Arrow now makes available on DVD. Debbie Does Dallas inspired the cheerleader uniform and the bucking bronco that so many took a ride on at the show. Deep Throat inspired the naughty nurse’s uniforms, and those naughty nurse’s spent a lot of time playing the Deep Throat themed foosball.

Hands down, though, my favorite show was at the Abby Winters booth, their very first time at the show. It was not really a booth though. It was a large rolling expanse of astroturf lit to look like it was outdoors. You could sit on the grass and challenge any of the girls to a game of chess. But the more formal show involved as many as 10 of the Abby Winters models on the grass, slowly stripping from jeans and shirts to bras or thin short camis and tiny little shorts. They then went into yoga stretching routines. Then they paired off in groups of two or three and started making out with each other on the fake grass. But the making out wasn’t fake, it was seriously getting into making out, pushing at the boundaries of what I thought you could get away with at these shows.

It had to be real, because the whole point of the Abby Winters site is to present young natural women from Australia who simply do what they enjoy doing with other girls in front of the camera. No direction, they just do what they find fun at the moment. The young women do not consider what they do porn, and they were all remarkably enthusiastic and unjaded. It was quite refreshing.

The show did not go as planned on the last day, however. It is possible that what happened was set up in advance, but the girls certainly did not seem to expect it.

They started the routine as usual. Once they stripped down, a guy with an enormous gut jumped onto the grass to join them in the yoga postures. He had removed his shirt and was wearing only shorts. After a few moments someone approached him and spoke with him, but he seemed oblivious and continued with what he was doing. The person who spoke with him went off, I assumed, to get security. He did the yoga poorly, often falling over, and the girls had to keep an eye out for him so that he did not fall on them. He did not touch any of them, and had he done that, I think a lot of us would have jumped on the stage and dragged him off. The girls just went valiantly on with their routine, trying to ignore him.

Then comes the part when the girls pair off. I was worried about what would happen at this point, and was nervously looking around for security. Just as the girls were pairing off, trying to do this as far from the guy as possible, a gay man next to me said, “Gee, I think he needs a partner,” and he jumped on the stage, grabbed the guy, and started kissing him. And the guy just goes along with it. The audience has been roaring the whole time, and moments later security shows up to drag him off the grass.

If it was staged, it was brilliant, but I suspect it was the sort of thing that can happen at these types of shows, when guys get overwhelmed by the sexuality around them and whatever stimulants they happen to be taking. This type of behavior is totally unacceptable, but in this case, it was also funny as hell.

If you preferred to sit, they also had classes you could attend. While they have always had seminars for the adult industry, this is the first time they had classes open to the general public. Jayme Waxman taught several sessions sponsored by Adam & Eve and based on the Personal Touch educational video series she does for them. Adult actors Dick Chibbles and Daisy Layne, a married couple who star in the series' Exploring the "O" video, joined Waxman for "Uncovering the O: Female Orgasms and More" and "Sex Toy Workshops: How to Choose Them/How To Use Them." There was also a class on Monogamy Without Monotony, although quite a few people at the show were probably seriously giving the whole monogamy question a second thought.
