![]() It seemed like a slightly smaller show this year. A number of vendors we've seen in years past were not there, and there were a few too many irrelevant booths for things like teeth whitening. Still, it is the show to go to if you want to meet your favorite adult stars and find out what is going on in the world of porn, and there was much this year that was outright entertaining on the show floor. I enjoyed the show, met lots of very interesting people, and had a great time.
The show takes place at the Sands Convention Expo. It is a little crazy the first couple of days, as it overlaps with the huge Consumer Electronics Show, part of which also takes place at the Sands. On the first floor is the AEE Business to Business section, which is only open to the trade. On the second floor is the larger hall, which focuses primarily on adult DVD. While there is some crossover, the main floor is primarily adult DVD, while business to business is primarily adult novelty. With the exception of the first day, the main hall is open to the general public ion the afternoons and all day Saturday. I thought I remembered a short cut through some back stairs that would get me into the main hall from the lower hall, a trip which normally requires going quite aways around. It worked, I flashed my badge, got past security, and was in the main hall. Except it did not look right. It was a hall for CES, one of many, filled with consumer electronics. I started out covering shows like CES, and the overwhelming miles of aisles remineded me why covering shows like the Adult Entertaibnment Expo is so much more pleasant. Besides the show floor, there are seminars, and, of course, the porn equivalent of the Academy Awards, the AVN Awards. This year's seminars included What Women Want, Digital Delivery, Marketing Sex Toys, Improving Your Website, Marketing and Advertising, and Adult Products Law.
