Adult Video News is a trade publication for the adult industry. Their annual awards in Las Vegas are considered the main awards show for the industry. This year marked their 35th awards show, with headliner and Grammy Award-winning<\/em> rapper Lil Wayne<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Unlike CES, as reported in our article Sex at CES<\/a>, AVN has a published code of conduct. I have long known about the accusations against Ron Jeremy. I am also not a fan, having encountered him on many occasions. My wife was on a television show with him (it was a game show and she kicked his ass), and the next time they met he did not remember her and hit on her. He hit on everyone, and I observed this many times. While I have not personally seen him sexually assault anyone, I believe the women who have made the allegations, including Ginger Lynn’s very credible account from years ago. Ron currently stands accused by 12 women. AVN decided to ban him from the awards show and convention, a decision I heartily endorse. They showed a lot more courage than CES, which could not even bother to set any rules to make their convention safer for women.<\/p>\n

The issues of sexual harassment in entertainment and porn are different, and I discuss them from my perspective from my many years working in entertainment in the Wednesday, Jan 31st 2018 edition of the Jeff Booth’s Big Picture<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Women Seeking Women<\/a><\/strong> bills itself as the most awarded series in adult history. Now at volume 150, they racked up an award at both AVN and XBiz this year.<\/p>\n

Porn legend Rocco Siffredi continues to win awards. How many times has he retired?<\/p>\n

Greg Lansky won Best Director of the Year from AVN for a second year in a row. Along with a bunch of awards last year, his AVN total this year includes Best Ing\u00e9nue Movie<\/strong>,\u00a0Best Interracial Movie<\/strong>,\u00a0Best Ethnic\/Interracial Series<\/strong>, and Best New Series<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Half His Age: A Teenage Tragedy<\/span><\/strong><\/a> was the movie of note, doing very well at the XBiz Awards and winning\u00a0 Best Drama<\/strong> and Movie of the Year<\/strong><\/span> at AVN.\u00a0 It also won Best Supporting Actor<\/strong> and Best Supporting Actress<\/strong>. That made it a good night for director Bree Mills<\/p>\n

Also feeling quite good should be Australian director\/performer Angela White.\u00a0 She won Best Anthology Movie<\/b> (Director and Star), Best All-Girl Movie<\/b> (Director and Star), Best Interracial Movie<\/strong> (Star), Best Boy\/Girl Sex Scene<\/strong> (Director and Star), Best Group Sex Scene<\/strong> (Director and Star), Best Double Penetration Sex Scene<\/strong> (Director and Star), Best Continuing Series<\/strong> (Director),\u00a0 Female Performer of the Year<\/strong>, Best Solo\/Tease Performance<\/strong> (Director and Star), and Best Editing<\/strong>, for one of the best nights for a female performer\/director that I remember. Her personal wins along with those of her studio, AGW Entertainment, gave her a stunning and record setting total of 14 AVN Awards. She, along with live cam superstar Harli Lotts and raunchy comedian Aries Spears<\/span>, co-hosted the awards as well.<\/p>\n

Clearly more than just a pretty face, she wrote an honours thesis in gender studies in which she looked at porn performers in Australia and found that they were not a bunch of drug addicted women with mental health problems but were actually pretty normal, she has dabbled in politics (best quote: “The difference is that politics is sleazy while porn is honest.”), got tons of publicity for shooting a scene in a library, she is a woman’s rights activist, and is probably one of the most interesting and smartest women in the adult entertainment industry.\u00a0 So congratulations, Angela! You do us all proud.<\/p>\n
